This documentary tells the impressive journey of young mountain bikers from Rwanda and sheds light on the path of passion and resilience in a country that is only just establishing itself as an emerging cycling nation.

Our vision is to bring the story of Rwanda and its emerging cycling community to a global audience. We want to not only celebrate the talent and perseverance of these extraordinary people, but also highlight the power of sport as a tool for change and community.
Background & Inspiration
Why?
After our first trip to Rwanda, we were deeply impressed by the unwavering determination of the people and their passion for cycling. There are countless stories of challenges and triumphs, and these motivated us to create a film that would make this story accessible to a wider audience.
How?
We conducted interviews with young mountain bikers, their families, and their coaches, and filmed in Rwanda's breathtaking landscapes during the Rwanda Epic 2024. The film was finished in summer 2025 and screened at the World Championships in Rwanda.
Behind the Scenes
Together, We Tell the Story
The heart of this documentary is shaped by the collaboration of three passionate individuals. Don Ailinger, the director of the film, is a talented photographer and Creative Director at HERZ & HAND Media. His first trip to Rwanda sparked the idea for the film, as he was captivated by the country’s vibrant cycling culture and its inspiring stories.
Alongside Don is Kilian Bendel, a young cameraman and editor who runs his own production company, Lo Media. Kilian spent hours riding on the back of motorbikes along some of Rwanda’s most remote trails, capturing the raw beauty of the landscape and the spirit of the local cycling community.
Also part of the team is Andre Jäger, a freelance cameraman and editor with his own company, Avid Media. Although newer to the film industry, Andre’s passion and fresh perspective have been invaluable in shaping the film’s visual storytelling.
While each team member brings a different level of experience, it’s their shared drive and collaboration that makes this project truly special.
